Loki is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He is being fostered in Houston, Texas. Loki was rescued from the woods with his mom and siblings and has grown up loved and cared for. He is the fearless ringleader of his litter, always the first to investigate and loudly announce his presence. Brave, bold, and endlessly entertaining, Loki approaches life with confidence, curiosity, and a sense of adventure. He's an expert climber and loves to play keep-away with his toys. Loki has a habit of waking everyone up for playtime, believing it should always start immediately. He is potty trained, though occasional accidents may happen as he adjusts to a new routine. While fearless, he can be a little hesitant with new experiences, but quickly overcomes it. He loves food and will happily secure his spot at the front of the line. After a day of play, Loki transforms into a cuddly lap buddy. He loves people and other dogs and seems to love life, greeting everyone with joy. He has been crate-trained and has been around children but has not yet been tested with cats. He is continuing to practice leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Loki is an adolescent still learning about the world and needs a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him mature.
Ideal Home
Loki would thrive in a home that can provide ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice. He would benefit greatly from continued socialization with new people, places, sounds, and friendly dogs to build lifelong confidence. A home with another friendly, well-mannered dog is preferred to help mentor and guide Loki. If you don't currently have a dog, please provide a plan for continued socialization, such as structured training classes, supervised daycare, or regular playdates. Due to his age, it is preferred that someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.
Ongoing Health
Loki is a healthy young dog.
