Lucy is a delightful 5-year-old, 31 lb Australian Cattle Dog looking for her forever home! She's a charming, smaller-sized Blue Heeler with a heart full of loyalty and a mind full of smarts. Lucy was rescued from a difficult situation where she lived on a chain, but thanks to the kindness of our rescue partners, she's now in a loving foster home in Texas, learning to trust and be part of a family. She's playful, a fetch champion, and surprisingly mellow and easy-going for a Heeler. Lucy is also a pro at potty, crate, and leash training, and while she enjoys affection, she's not clingy. She's even been observed to ignore cats, which is a great start!
Ideal Home
Lucy would do best with an adopter who is familiar with herding breeds and their unique personalities. She can be a little bossy with some dogs and has a tendency to nip at the heels of dogs she doesn't immediately click with – a classic Heeler trait! She's also a bit wary around very small dogs. Due to her past, Lucy can be timid around new people and needs a little time to warm up and feel comfortable.
Ongoing Health
Lucy has been spayed, is microchipped, up to date on all her vaccines and preventatives, and is generally healthy.
Training & Support
Lucy is already potty trained, crate trained (though she prefers to be near you!), and leash trained. She exhibits typical herding breed behaviors like supervising her humans and following them from room to room, sometimes with a dramatic side-eye. She walks nicely in public and is a great car rider!
