Rusty

Rusty is a spunky and active 4-5 year old Black Mouth Cur Shepherd mix who weighs around 50lbs. He's a short, squatty guy with a love for play, especially games of keep away and chase! Rusty is up-to-date on all his shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He knows his basic commands and is highly motivated by food and treats. While he may have had occasional accidents in the shelter, he has been perfect in his foster home, is fully potty trained, and crate trained. Rusty rides well in the car and doesn't experience any anxiety. He's a dog-friendly boy who gets along with medium and large breed dogs, both male and female, and could be happy as an only dog or with a canine companion. His experience with cats is unknown.

Ideal Home

Rusty would thrive in an active home where he can be included in daily family activities and adventures. He needs a securely fenced yard and is not trained for off-leash freedom. This energetic boy would not be a good fit for apartment living. He can be adopted by a single person, a couple, or a family with children over 10 years old, as his exuberance might be too much for younger children.

Ongoing Health

Rusty is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and is heartworm negative.

Training & Support

Rusty is potty trained and crate trained. He knows his basic commands and is treat-motivated. He is not off-leash trained and requires a securely fenced yard.

Rusty is currently in a foster home in Fort Worth, TX. Transport to your area is available through our rescue after adoption is finalized.
