MAIZEY- Needs a foster/forever home!

Maizey is a sweet Shepherd mix with a gentle soul, born around August 2020. She was found as a stray in Detroit, enduring harsh freezing temperatures. Sadly, she had lost a puppy during her time as a stray. Rescuers were able to bring Maizey and two other dogs to safety on February 8th. After a vet visit, it was discovered that Maizey was heartworm positive. She has successfully completed her heartworm treatment but will need monthly preventative medication for life. Maizey enjoys car rides and spending time with people. She finds immense joy in playing in a kiddie pool, diving and rolling around! She is also a very smart girl and is wonderful with other dogs.

Ideal Home

Maizey would thrive in a home with a totally enclosed, physically fenced yard where she can run and play. She would do best in a home with children aged 10 years or older. Her compatibility with cats is unknown.

Ongoing Health

Maizey is heartworm positive and has completed her treatment. She will require monthly heartworm preventative medication for the rest of her life. She is vaccinated and microchipped. She will be spayed in the near future.

Training & Support

Maizey is crate-trained. All dogs over 1 year old are required to attend a 6-week obedience class outside the home.

• No out-of-state or outside the U.S. adoptions or fosters.
