About Jackie
Meet Jackie, a spirited senior Shepherd and Pit Bull mix with a heart as big as her personality! Don't let her 10 years and 70 pounds fool you; this girl still has plenty of pep in her step. She enjoys both a leisurely 20-minute stroll around the neighborhood and a vigorous 3-mile hike, keeping a good pace when she's in the mood. Jackie is a well-behaved girl on leash and is wonderfully responsive to treats.
Jackie experiences periodic zoomies and adores interactive play sessions with her people. Whether it's a game of tug, chase, or "Wrestlemania," she's up for anything! She uses her mouth playfully during games but responds well to redirection. Her house manners are impeccable; she is housetrained and can be left alone when necessary.
When it comes to other dogs, Jackie's feelings can vary. She lives very well with her part-time foster sister, a senior Chihuahua, and is generally indifferent to most other dogs. However, she doesn't tolerate "fools" and is not a fan of big, overly eager young dogs. She tends to prefer smaller dogs to those her own size. While she'd love to play with the Chihuahua in her foster home, her enthusiastic play style, combined with the size difference and the Chi's age, makes it an unrequited love.
Jackie is surprisingly easy on leash for such a big, strong dog, but she would do best with someone comfortable handling her size and strength, especially during those moments when her inner puppy emerges. She was reportedly crate-trained in her previous home but is never crated in her foster home and is a perfect housemate. She made an amazingly smooth transition to her foster home and is primed to do the same for her adopters. If you're looking for a loyal, lively companion who's equal parts affectionate, self-contained, and adventurous, Jackie might be your perfect match! Jackie joined the POMDR pack because one of her loving guardians has dementia and is moving into assisted living. This sweet, silly girl is looking for someone to swoop in, scoop her up, and show her that she has many more years of love ahead of her!
Ideal Home
Jackie would love a home where she can enjoy both leisurely strolls and longer adventures. She would do best with someone comfortable handling her size and strength, especially during play. Her preference for smaller dogs means she might do best as the only dog in the home or with a small, calm canine companion.
Ongoing Health
Jackie is a senior dog and her health is monitored regularly by our veterinary team.
