About Walter Fitzgerald

Looking for a new best friend who is the definition of cool, calm, and collected? Meet the handsome social butterfly, the dog who makes leash walking look like an Olympic sport!

Walter is the definition of a chill vibes only companion. Whether you're looking for a shadow to follow you from room to room or a partner to just coexist while you work, he is your man! He's got that magical balance of being able to turn on the play when it's time to romp, but he's just as happy to find a cozy spot and watch the world go by. He is truly special because of his emotional intelligence; he knows exactly how to read the room (and the other dogs in it).

While we never know for sure without a crystal ball (or a DNA test!), we think he's a German Shepherd Mix and a perfectly sized blend of handsome! He has that sturdy, athletic build that makes him easy to take anywhere but substantial enough for a good cuddle. He's the ideal medium size, big enough to keep up on walks, but compact enough to not take up the entire sofa. As with all our rescue favorites, his breed is a bit of a mystery, but his heart is 100% purely love.

He is currently living the good life in a foster home and is absolutely crushing his "good boy" curriculum! He is already crate trained and potty trained, making the transition into your home a total breeze. He has been a perfect gentleman in his crate, even when there's a lot of action going on around him. He is a dream in the car and ready to be your co-pilot for any weekend errands or coffee runs.

If you already have a pup, you're in luck; this guy is dog social with a capital S! He is fantastic at reading other dogs' body language and knows how to stand his ground with a polite "please give me space" when things get too rowdy. He would do best with a medium-energy dog sibling who enjoys a little playtime but also appreciates a good afternoon nap.

While he loves almost everyone, he has decided that cats are just a little too exciting for his taste. Walter is looking for a feline-free sanctuary. He'd much rather spend his time focusing all his love and attention on his humans and his canine pals!

Whether you have a big backyard or a cozy city apartment, this guy will fit right in. Because he is an absolute pro on a leash (seriously, he practically heels himself!), he doesn't need a massive yard to stay happy. He is just as happy strolling through the neighborhood as he is lounging on a rug. He is the type of dog who makes life feel easier just by being there.

In short, he is a polite, kennel-trained, leash-walking expert who is just waiting for the right family to lead. If you are looking for a dog who is smart, social, and stylish, you have found him!
