Olive

Olive is a smart and sassy lady who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to ask for it! This 61lb, adult female Pointer mix arrived at our sanctuary on October 4, 2017, as a stray with her mom and sister. Olive is a joy to watch as she runs like the wind, but she truly shines when she's by your side, enjoying belly rubs and cuddles. While she loves her walks and exploring the outdoors, her favorite place to be is inside, snuggled up with her people in a safe and structured environment. She's a big, strong girl who craves creature comforts and wants to be part of the family inside the home.

Ideal Home

Olive would be happiest in a home with a confident, loving human or humans with prior dog experience who can provide a steady routine. She needs a lot of attention and cannot be crated, ignored, or feel like an afterthought. A home where she won't run the house and will feel safe and secure is essential for her well-being. She may enjoy the company of another pointer or hound, but she would do best in a home without children or cats.

Olive has no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Olive has a history of resource guarding, but extensive training has significantly curbed this tendency, and she has not displayed this behavior at the sanctuary for a long time. She is very smart and needs a consistent, predictable, steady, yet soft approach, especially in new or uncertain situations. Patience and time to adjust are key to her success.
