Meet Mable, a charming mix of Shar-pei or Chow and Beagle, who blossomed from a life of isolation into a loving companion. Originally found living outside on a chain for over a year, Mable's early days were marked by loneliness and a lack of safe space. Despite a challenging start, this resilient pup has overcome immense hurdles, including seven surgeries to correct cherry eye and an inverted eyelid, which ultimately gave her the precious gift of sight.
Ideal Home
Mable thrives in a home with other dogs, as she's a natural follower who gains confidence from canine companionship. While she loves to snuggle and requires interaction with both humans and other pets, she cannot be the only animal in the household. A fenced yard is preferred for her safety, but apartment living is acceptable as long as she receives daily exercise.
Ongoing Health
Mable has undergone extensive medical care, including seven surgeries for eye conditions. She has recovered well and now has improved vision. She is house-trained and crate-trained, though stress can occasionally lead to more frequent potty breaks. The crate provides her with a sense of security.
Training & Support
Mable was initially shy and reactive due to a lack of socialization and understanding of dog body language. Through consistent exposure and positive reinforcement, she has learned to trust and engage. While she walks excellently on a leash and has great recall, continued training and daily reinforcement are essential for her continued success. She enjoys playtime and has a silly, quirky personality that shines when she's comfortable.
