Umi

Umi is a spirited 7-8 month old German Shepherd mix, weighing around 45 lbs. She was found wandering as a tiny puppy but has blossomed into a joyful, affectionate, and trusting companion. Umi loves her walks, explores with enthusiasm, and greets everyone with happy tail wags and cuddles. She's energetic and playful, always ready for an adventure! Like any pup her age, Umi is still learning and enjoys a good chew, but with consistent guidance and plenty of exercise, she'll make a wonderful addition to a family. She's not a fan of cats and can be a bit scared of loud noises like fireworks, but her sweet and loving nature shines through.

Ideal Home

Umi would thrive in a home with an active family that enjoys outdoor activities and has a securely fenced backyard with a tall fence. She needs a home with owners who have a genuine intention to rescue and understand the needs of street animals, possessing patience and experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a trainer. She is not suited for a home with cats.

Ongoing Health

Umi has received a spay/neuter certificate, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and is microchipped. She has also tested negative for heartworm and 4DX, and receives monthly Nexgard Spectra preventative. A health certificate and vaccine booklet are available.

Training & Support

Umi is not house-trained and enjoys chewing. She will need patience and understanding as she adjusts to a new environment and learns boundaries. An active family with experience in dog behavior and training is ideal, or a family committed to hiring a professional trainer.

Transporation

Umi is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transportation is available for an additional fee.
