Hi, I’m Nicot. I’m a 2-year-old black and tan Shepherd mix who is looking for a very special kind of home. I’m what you might call borderline feral, extremely scared of people I don’t know, and I spook easily. Trust doesn’t come quickly for me, but once I bond with another dog, I feel safer and more confident. Dogs are my comfort zone. People… I need time. I also get along well with cats. I was found as a severely malnourished stray when I was about six months old, and even though I’m healthier and stronger now, the fear from those early months never fully left me. I’m happiest when I’m with my dog friends, and being with them helps me feel secure. I love other dogs and would do best in a home with at least one stable, confident dog who can help guide me. I’m not comfortable on a leash, and new environments overwhelm me. I’m a flight risk, so I need someone who understands containment, decompression, and slow introductions. I will crate well at night, and if you’re gentle and patient, I’ll take treats from your hand. But I need someone who truly understands that I am not a typical pet — I’m a working-minded dog who needs a job, structure, and real mental engagement. Walks alone won’t be enough for me. Without proper stimulation, I can become extremely destructive. I’m neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I weigh about 35 pounds, and even though I’m still learning how to trust people, I’m a handsome boy with so much potential in the right hands.
Ideal Home
I cannot live with small children. Older, dog-savvy teens who understand my need for space may be okay, but little kids are simply too unpredictable for me. I need a home that understands containment, decompression, and slow introductions, and is prepared for my potential destructiveness if not properly stimulated.
Ongoing Health
I’m neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative.
