Shelby

Shelby is a one-year-old German Shepherd with a heart of gold who just needs a little time and patience to feel safe. She truly loves everyone she meets! Shelby enjoys walking, running, and cuddling. She especially loves her romps in the woods. She has a high energy level and does best when she has regular opportunities to move, explore, and burn off excitement. At the end of the day, when she's got her zoomies out, she's diving in for some cuddles. Shelby does well with male dogs when introduced properly but can be selective with her doggie friends. Shelby's best qualities are her cuddles, her loyalty, and her incredible willingness to try even after everything she has been through. She has a tender heart beneath her uncertainty and just needs a family who will meet her where she is and help her grow into the confident, secure dog she is meant to become.

Ideal Home

Shelby would do best in a home with older children and an owner experienced in handling working breeds. She has not yet been tested with dogs or cats in a controlled setting, so slow introductions will be important in the future. If you have experience, patience, and a soft spot for dogs who are learning to trust again, Shelby may be the perfect match.

Ongoing Health

Shelby's adoption fee is $850 and includes microchip, spay, vaccines, heartworm test, heartworm/flea/tick prevention, deworming, and a complete vet check.

Training & Support

Shelby is still working on leash skills. She does best when she has a chance to get her energy out in the backyard before heading out for a walk. At the moment, she is not very food motivated, so relationship-based reinforcement works best for her. Her recall is great, and she is crate trained.
