Meet Charlie!
Charlie is an adorable mini Dachshund who has overcome a lot and is now looking for a special home that understands that some of the sweetest souls need a little extra time to bloom. When he first arrived, Charlie hadn't experienced much of the world and was unfamiliar with basic handling and socialization. He's been working hard to learn that people can be safe, gentle, and kind, and underneath his initial uncertainty is an incredibly sweet little soul. Once he feels comfortable and trusts you, his true personality shines through – he becomes playful, happy, snuggly, and full of those silly Dachshund quirks that make everyone fall in love with the breed. He absolutely adores running in a fenced yard, zooming with excitement, and enjoying life with his favorite friends.
Ideal Home
Charlie needs an adopter who understands that trust isn't built overnight. He's looking for someone patient, calm, and willing to let him move at his own pace. He is not a "plug and play" dog and would not be a good fit for a first-time dog owner. Charlie shares a very special bond with his best buddy Cooper; they play together constantly and build confidence in each other. While we will consider separating them for the right home, Charlie would do best either adopted with Cooper or placed in a home with another very friendly, confident, and understanding dog who can provide comfort and guidance.
Ongoing Health
All of our dogs are fully vetted, including spay or neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, rabies vaccination, microchipping, heartworm and Lyme testing, deworming, flea and tick treatment, and heartworm prevention.
Training & Support
Dachshunds are known for being loyal, intelligent, funny, and full of personality, but they can also be famously independent and stubborn thinkers. They often form deep bonds with their people and thrive with consistency, structure, and understanding. Charlie is not a "plug and play" dog and would not be a good fit for a first-time dog owner.
