About Spike

Meet Spike!

This handsome two-year-old German Shepherd mix is a bundle of affectionate energy, weighing about 50 pounds. Spike has a striking black coat with a bright white chest patch and intelligent eyes that show his curious nature. He's a blend of athletic enthusiasm and devoted companionship. Spike truly believes he's a lap dog and loves to cuddle up for belly rubs. He's a big fan of squeaky toys and enjoys a good game of fetch. If you love the outdoors, Spike is your guy – he's an enthusiastic swimmer and would love to join you on hikes or active weekends!

When Spike first arrived, he was quite fearful and easily startled, often keeping his distance to feel safe. However, over the past year and a half, he has blossomed with confidence! He now actively seeks affection, initiates play, and comes for cuddles. While he might bark at strangers out of uncertainty, he quickly looks to his people for reassurance.

Ideal Home

Spike would thrive in a home with a patient, experienced pet parent who can provide a fenced yard, loving guidance, and steady leadership. He may be selective with other dogs and would benefit from thoughtful introductions to female dogs.

Ongoing Health

Spike is neutered and microchipped.

Training & Support

Spike is crate-trained and house-trained. He knows commands like "sit," "wait," "crate," "out," and "no," and comes when called. He responds well to structure and positive reinforcement and is happy to relax in his crate when left alone for short periods. Loud sirens can make him uneasy, and he sometimes whimpers if he sees his people cuddling another dog. Continued confidence-building and reassurance will help him continue to blossom.
