Mavis is a 2-year-old, spayed female Shepherd mix who weighs about 55 pounds. She's a gentle, easygoing sweetheart ready to bring calm, love, and quiet joy into your home. Mavis was found at an elementary school and a kind teacher began feeding her. It took many months, but a group of people came together to get her into foster care where she's been thriving ever since!
Ideal Home
Mavis would thrive in a home where she can feel secure, loved, and part of the family. She's a low-to-moderate energy dog and enjoys daily walks up to 3 miles, followed by relaxing at your side. She enjoys being on the cool floor, even when a comfy bed is nearby. She may startle if approached suddenly from behind, so a calm, predictable environment would help her feel her best. Based on her interest in squirrels, a cat-free home would likely be the best fit.
Ongoing Health
No specific ongoing health conditions are mentioned.
Training & Support
Mavis is fully house-trained and does well in a crate, including overnight or during the workday. She has great manners when left alone and is not destructive. She walks beautifully on leash, is easily redirected, and has excellent manners. She knows how to sit and is eager to continue learning. She may be a bit shy at first with new people but warms up quickly.
