Rufus (in foster)

Rufus, a 6-year-old Retriever mix, is back and ready to find his forever adventure buddy! He spent a year and a half in a loving home, where he proved himself to be a smart, fun, and loyal companion. Rufus loves car rides with the windows down, long walks, hikes, and even runs. He's also a big fan of chew toys and showing off his tricks like sit, down, come, and paw! He’s house-trained, independent, and always up for an outdoor adventure. While he has a little mischievous streak and is a "trash can raider," that's part of his charm.

Ideal Home

Rufus would be a perfect match for an active adopter who wants a loyal sidekick to explore the world with. He did well with the family dog in his previous home, though he can be selective with unfamiliar dogs, so a meet-and-greet is recommended for any future dog siblings. He will chase outdoor cats, birds, and wildlife, so a secure backyard and attentive handler are a plus.

Training & Support

Rufus is house-trained and knows several basic commands. He can get vocal when he’s excited or wants attention, especially in a kennel, but he settles well in a home environment.
