About Annie
Annie is a sweet and spunky Shih Tzu and Poodle mix, about 3-4 months old and weighing 7 lbs. She's expected to be around 20 lbs when fully grown. Annie is affectionate, loving, and absolutely adores doting humans. She's curious, observant, and confident, always eager to investigate new things. She's a social butterfly who loves meeting new people and dog friends, making her a perfect pup for an active family that wants their furry friend involved in everyday life. Her laid-back demeanor makes her adaptable to different environments and she enjoys fun family adventures. Annie is happy as long as she's with her humans, whether playing with foster siblings, cuddling, or playing with her toys. She's playful and curious when it's time for fun, but also laid-back and mellow when it's time to relax. She entertains herself by playing with her toys or napping, making her a great companion for those who work from home.
Ideal Home
Annie would love an active family that enjoys walks, exploring, spending time outdoors, and including her in daily activities. She'd also be happy with a family that enjoys cozy evenings at home filled with snuggles. A fenced yard is ideal for her to run and play in. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. She can also be the "only child" and receive all the love and attention. Public dog parks are not recommended. She would love adventures going on outings around town or to Sniff Spots for enrichment. If her humans work out of the home, a dog sitter or doggy daycare is recommended, as she cannot go 8+ hours without playtime and potty breaks.
Ongoing Health
Annie is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. She has received a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian and any necessary vet care while in rescue. A $200 refundable spay deposit is required, to be paid directly to the adopter's vet once she is old enough for the procedure.
Training & Support
Annie is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started leash training. She sleeps in her kennel at night and naps in it during the day. She alerts her foster family when she needs to go outside by circling at the back door. Using a doggy doorbell is recommended to help her learn to notify you. She needs a consistent schedule and to be taken out every few hours initially in a new environment. She picks up on new schedules quickly. She is starting to teethe, so her humans will need to watch her to ensure she doesn't chew on human toys. She can be wiggly when excited and picked up, so a small child could potentially drop her if they try to carry her. She is dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and kid-friendly. She would likely be too much for a senior dog not used to puppy energy. She would do well with older children experienced with smaller breeds who know how to handle her carefully. She is friendly towards cats and would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before.
