Florence, who we lovingly call Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a 3-year-old, 46-pound Carolina Dog mix with a playful and energetic spirit! She's a total love bug who enjoys wrestling, being chased, and snuggling up for some quality time. Flora thrives on interaction and can play for hours, especially with another dog! She's already proven to be a good friend to the resident pup in her foster home, affectionately grooming him and engaging in playful romps. Flora has experience with dogs of various sizes, from a 35-pound Cocker Spaniel to a 60-pound Pyrenees mix, and she shares her toys and food well (though she could use a reminder to be gentle with treats!). She's also fully housebroken and doesn't mind being unsupervised outside her crate at home, though she's shown some anxiety in crates at home, but has done fine in boarding. When she's not playing, Flora enjoys leisurely walks, sunbathing, and birdwatching. She's a smart cookie who loves learning new tricks and is incredibly submissive and affectionate. While she has her quirks, Flora promises years of love and companionship!
Ideal Home
Flora would do best in a home with someone who is home often and enjoys an active lifestyle, including walks or jogs and games of fetch. She would be happiest with another well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level, or as the only pet in the household. Due to her nervousness around new children and stranger danger with new people, an adult-only household is preferred.
Ongoing Health
Flora is a healthy girl and has been spayed.
Training & Support
Flora can be a bit shy and nervous around new people and children, and has shown some leash reactivity. She can also get easily spooked and pulls on the leash. However, with consistent positive reinforcement training, especially in calm environments with minimal stimuli, she is making great progress. She will need an owner who can continue this training to help her feel more confident around new dogs and situations. She also shows some anxiety in crates at home, but does well when boarded.
