Sentry

Sentry is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix, estimated to be born in January 2026. He currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. Sentry was rescued from the woods with his mother, Wanda, and his siblings. He loves to cuddle, play, and go for walks, bringing joy wherever he goes with his goofy, affectionate, and playful personality. He is potty-trained and is growing into a confident, affectionate, and well-rounded dog. Sentry is outgoing, friendly, and eager to make new friends, whether human or canine. He has done well with children and has been raised alongside other dogs and his mother, enjoying playing with them. While he hasn't been tested with cats, he happily soaked up attention from adults and children at a recent community event. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience, showing a strong eagerness to learn.

Ideal Home

Sentry is looking for a family committed to reinforcing good manners, building his confidence, and helping him continue to mature into an exceptional adult dog. We prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Sentry, as he thrives with canine role models. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for continued socialization, which could include training classes, playdates, or supervised daycare. Because Sentry is still young, we also prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time, as he benefits from regular potty breaks, exercise, enrichment, training, and human interaction.

• If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time.
• If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview.
• This is followed by a video call with the foster home.
• Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.
