Meet Spike!

This handsome two-year-old German Shepherd mix is a delightful combination of spirited energy and affectionate devotion. Spike is about 50 pounds and boasts a striking black coat with a bright white chest patch, framing intelligent eyes that sparkle with curiosity. He's a highly intelligent and wonderfully playful boy who truly believes he's a lap dog, gently nudging his way into your embrace for belly rubs and cuddles. His favorite companions are squeaky toys, and he’s an enthusiastic swimmer who loves a good dip in the pool, making him an ideal partner for an active, outdoorsy guardian.

When Spike first arrived in his current home, he was quite fearful and easily startled. Over the past year and a half, he has blossomed with confidence, now actively seeking affection and initiating play. While he may still bark at strangers out of uncertainty, he quickly looks to his people for reassurance and recovers well.

Ideal Home

Spike needs a patient, experienced pet parent who can provide a loving environment with a fenced yard and steady leadership. He would do best in a home with female dogs, though introductions should be thoughtful.

Spike is neutered and microchipped.

Training & Support

Spike is crate-trained and house-trained. He knows commands such as "sit," "wait," "crate," "out," and "no," and comes when called. He responds beautifully to structure and positive reinforcement. He can be uneasy around loud sirens and may whimper if he sees his people cuddling another dog. With continued patience and reassurance, he continues to build confidence.
