Cade

Heddo! My name is Cade (I also respond to Big Stinky!). I’m a 5-year-old, 90-pound American Bulldog mix who has been patiently waiting for my forever home for four years! I was rescued by Samson's Sanctuary after being found abandoned in April 2022. Despite my size, I have a heart full of love and enjoy nothing more than lounging on the couch, belly-up, in my favorite sleeping position.

I can be a little shy around new men and need some time to build trust, especially if a female isn't present initially. However, once I bond with you, my loyalty is fierce and unforgettable. I adore going on adventures, whether it's a hike in the great outdoors, splashing in water, or sniffing out new discoveries. I love to take my time on walks and proudly carry the biggest stick I can find! I'm independent but enjoy company and will rest my head on your lap for pets, preferring back scratches until I feel comfortable enough for head pats.

I get along well with other dogs my size and smaller, as long as they are friendly. However, my adventurous spirit tends to chase cats, so a home without them would be best. I've even been around a baby in my foster home and demonstrated gentle behavior! I'm highly food-motivated, which makes training a breeze, and I'll happily let you know when someone is at the door – I'm a great alert dog! Squeaky toys, tug-of-war, bones, and frozen treats are some of my absolute favorites.

I’ve been in foster care for nearly four years, but my foster family and trainer have worked hard to teach me many skills and provide structure. I walk nicely on a leash, have excellent off-leash recall, am e-collar and muzzle trained, and know multiple commands. I'm a very smart boy who learns quickly, especially when tasty treats are involved! I love puzzle toys for mental stimulation and would be thrilled to have my own yard for zoomies, but I'm also happy with park visits. I am located in Los Angeles, CA. We have adopted dogs to out-of-area, state, and even international homes. Approved applicants typically come to Los Angeles to meet their new dog and transport them home, often making it a fun road trip!
