Meet Avi! This resilient 10-year-old, 55 lb husky mix is the true meaning of rescue. Avi's past was marked by an abusive owner, but he's on a journey of healing and has already come so far with clicker training! He's a bit slow to trust, but once he feels safe, he's incredibly playful and affectionate. Avi loves everyone he meets and has a special bond with his foster brother, a boxer bulldog mix, though he certainly thinks he's the prettier one! He's looking for a patient adopter who will continue his training and understand his need for a gentle approach.
Ideal Home
Avi needs a home with at least one other playful dog, ideally a husky or another dog of similar size. He is not good with children or cats, as they move too fast for him. Avi is an escape artist and will jump fences smaller than 6 feet, so a secure yard is a must. He also requires long daily walks to keep him happy and exercised. Husky experience is required for potential adopters.
Ongoing Health
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination.
Training & Support
Avi has made great strides with clicker training, but he will need continued patience and positive reinforcement to fully blossom. He's still healing and learning to trust, so a dedicated adopter committed to long-term training is essential.
