About Copper

Copper is a 3.5-year-old American Fox Hound with a pretty docile personality. His favorite activity is lounging by the fireplace, but he also gets bursts of silly energy and loves to play chase and keep away. Like many hounds, he has a loud bay when he sees something interesting, but he doesn't bark excessively. Copper walks well on a leash, is easily redirected, and is very treat-motivated! He's kennel-trained and has completed basic obedience classes. While he can be a bit cautious around new people and doesn't like them invading his personal space, he warms up and becomes a great friend once he trusts someone. It took him about a month to a month and a half to adjust to his current home. He does show some reactivity to guests entering the home, but he's eager to work on this.

Ideal Home

Copper would thrive in a single-family home with older children (13 and up) and no small children. A large backyard, or even acreage, would be ideal! He does best with a regular, consistent schedule and a predictable environment. He would be okay with another dog, preferably his size or smaller, but he'd also be happy as the sole canine companion to receive all the love from his humans.

Ongoing Health

Copper has no specific health conditions mentioned.

Training & Support

Copper is kennel-trained and has taken basic obedience classes. He can be a bit cautious around new people and doesn't like his personal space invaded, but treats can help him warm up. He needs work on reactivity to guests entering the home, but he is willing to learn.
