Maggie is ready for her Forever Home!
My name is Maggie, and I'm approximately 1 year and 5 months old. I was rescued from a backyard breeder/hoarding situation in Wilcox, Arizona. I'm a bit timid when it comes to loud noises, but I'm a work in progress. I'm a very active young girl who loves to run and play. I do have a loving side to me as well, and will snuggle in your arms, ask for belly rubs, and love on you when I'm feeling lonely.
Ideal Home
I get along with other dogs, but cats are not for me. I love to run and play hard, but I'm not mean. I assume all other animals love me as well, so I'll just keep annoying them until they either blow me off or play with me. I should not be around young children or other geriatric pets in the home. Even teens that may want to play tug-of-war with me, I'll need to be reminded to play gently, because I play hard and my focus isn't that great when I'm in the throws of playing. I'm looking for an active family who is familiar with my breed and able to keep me in check.
Ongoing Health
I use my mouth as a comfort/communication tool. Most dogs lick if they're happy and content; I put my mouth around your arm, not to hurt you, but to tell you I like the belly rubs. This is what is referred to as being "mouthy." I had to learn how to do it gently.
Training & Support
I know basic commands and perform them well because I love to learn. When I try to get my foster mom to play with me, I can get demanding and mouthy. My foster mom ceases that behavior right away by using the "sit" command, and I will listen, otherwise, I don't get to play at all. I need consistent reminders to respect the other dogs' space. Please understand that I don't have a mean bone in my body, I'm just a little different.
