Max is an approximately 6-year-old Belgian Shepherd mix weighing about 50 pounds. He has a gentle soul and an incredibly resilient spirit. Max gets along well with other dogs but would do best in a home without cats. He is house-trained and prefers to do all of his business outside. Max can tolerate spending short periods in a crate, although he is happiest when he has the freedom to be near his people. Because of everything he has been through, his energy level is moderate to low, and he enjoys leisurely walks at his own pace.
Max's story is one of remarkable perseverance. He was rescued from the streets after being struck by a vehicle and was terrified of the noise of cars and motorcycles. His injuries were severe, and despite undergoing three surgeries, his leg could not be saved and had to be amputated. He endured tremendous pain, neglect, and abandonment, and there were times when he nearly lost his life during his surgeries. Thankfully, with dedicated veterinary care and lots of love, Max has made an incredible recovery.
Despite all he has suffered, Max has never lost his kind and loving nature. He is affectionate, enjoys gentle play, and has a beautiful, forgiving spirit that shines through every day. He walks a little slower than most dogs, but his missing leg doesn't stop him from enjoying life or sharing his love with those around him. Max is now looking for a compassionate forever family who will appreciate his strength, cherish his gentle heart, and give him the safe, loving home he has always deserved. In return, he will offer unwavering loyalty, quiet companionship, and endless gratitude.
