Ferka

Ferka is a charming Chihuahua, about 4 years old and weighing in at a petite 9 lbs. She's a small dog with a large personality and an even bigger heart! Ferka was found at a church under construction, where she was comfortably interacting with people and other dogs. This sweet and social nature is what makes Ferka so special. She's crate trained, rides well in the car, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, children, and adults. Ferka is affectionate, playful, and loves to give kisses. She thrives on human attention and enjoys being part of the family's activities.

Ideal Home

Ferka would do best with tolerant, playful dogs or with supervision, as her high energy can sometimes be a bit much for other pups. She cannot live with cats, as she tends to chase them. A home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be ideal for this spirited girl. She needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue a dog, with an open mind about the needs and behaviors of street animals, and a willingness to provide protection and education. Experience in dog behavior and training is preferred, or a commitment to hiring a trainer to help this intelligent dog reach her full potential. High tolerance and patience are essential for this rescued puppy.

Ongoing Health

Ferka has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including spay/neuter, DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchip, 4DX test, heartworm test, and is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventative. She comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet. Please note that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period due to past experiences, and patience and understanding are crucial.

Training & Support

Ferka is not house-trained. It's important to understand that it's impossible for us to house-train every pet due to the sheer number in foster care. However, with high tolerance and patience, and a commitment to training, she can learn. Her high energy can sometimes overwhelm other dogs, so guidance on appropriate play and interaction will be beneficial.

• If it’s a match, we’ll connect for a virtual tour and discuss references.
• Upon approval, an adoption contract will be signed, and an adoption fee will be collected to cover vet care, vaccinations, microchip, and more.

Transporation

Ferka is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our cross-country trip if adopted. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery from Mexico to your home. Our transportation process includes scheduled trips (3-4 times a year with 15-20 adoptions per trip), a partnered transport company, all necessary legal documents (Transport Contract, USDA Health Certificate, health protocol certificates), cross-border transport into Texas, real-time updates via a private Facebook Messenger group, and a final home delivery with a review.
