A little about them
Courage is an approximately 1-year-old mixed-breed boy with lots of energy and a big, enthusiastic personality. He is currently available and would thrive with an active home ready to provide regular, intentional exercise and continued socialization.
Courage is a ball of uncontrolled enthusiasm when excited, especially when greeting people he trusts. He can be shy with new people and needs time to warm up, but he is comfortable around strangers who give him space. Once calm, he has decent manners and enjoys affection.
Ideal Home
Courage needs regular exercise beyond simply running in a yard. A three-mile walk, play with another energetic dog, running, or doggie daycare could be a great fit. Without enough activity, he may entertain himself with shoes, magazines, rocks, or other objects, though he happily trades them for attention. After exercise, he settles very well.
- Excellent with other dogs of all sizes; he enjoys play, listens to corrections, and balances his intensity well.
- Tentatively does well with cats after limited exposure.
- A good potential running, daycare, or dog-park companion.
- Ohio residents only.
Training & Support
Courage knows “sit,” “down,” and “touch.” He walks well on leash, usually at a fast pace without pulling hard, and will stop and return when reminded. He is wonderful in his crate and settles quietly, though he may chew bedding if he has not had enough exercise. His foster family does not crate him for long periods during the day.
He did well for a bath and was very comfortable having his nails clipped. He is not especially food motivated but enjoys training and attention. He was picked up as a stray and may need continued help building confidence and socialization with people.
