Grinch is a male, adult Pit Bull Terrier mix who is large and has a short coat. Watching Grinch start to relax and trust people has been genuinely heartwarming. While he initially presented as overwhelmed and defensive in the kennel environment, once staff were able to get him outside and away from all the noise and stress, a completely different dog started to emerge. Outside the kennel, Grinch has shown himself to be loose, wiggly, playful, affectionate, and deeply interested in connecting with people. He loves squeaky toys, enjoys playing tug, and has happily leaned into people for scratches while wagging his whole body. Over time, his kennel behavior has improved significantly as he has become more comfortable and settled into the routine. Staff have recently noted calm greetings, soft wags, and relaxed behavior during handling and cleaning. He has also shown no concerns during food bowl testing and willingly allowed interaction around his food while remaining loose and social. Grinch will likely do best with someone who understands that some dogs need a little time and patience before they feel safe enough to show who they really are. Underneath all that stress and uncertainty is a goofy, affectionate dog who clearly wants connection, playtime, and someone he can trust.
