Janis J is a soft, sensitive husky mix with soulful brown eyes and a heart that's slowly opening up to trust and love. She didn't have much exposure to people early in life, so she's naturally shy and cautious, but every day, she's learning that the world can be kind and comforting. Janis J is not a cuddler yet, but once she's comfortable, she'll relax nearby and quietly enjoy your company. She is bonded to her brother Jerry, and they are looking for a home together, as he is her comfort and partner on her journey. Janis J is crate trained and learning housebreaking, and she even knows how to use a dog door. With time and positive reinforcement, she'll keep making progress, especially with tasty treats and soft encouragement. Janis J can be a little Houdini, as she is strong on leash and can hop fences, so a secure 6-foot fence with a climb guard is required. She also cannot have soft toys because she likes to shred them, and her brother Jerry has needed surgery because of their mischief, so it's best they stick to tough toys only.
Ideal Home
Janis J needs a calm, adult-only home with a confident, gentle dog to help show her the way. She cannot live in a home with cats due to her prey drive, nor can she live in a home with children, as loud noises and fast movements are scary for her. A secure 6-foot fence with a climb guard is required for her safety.
Ongoing Health
Janis J's brother Jerry has needed surgery due to shredding and ingesting soft toys, so it's essential that she only has access to tough toys.
Training & Support
Janis J is crate trained and learning housebreaking, and she knows how to use a dog door. She responds well to structure and routine and is motivated by tasty treats and soft encouragement. She is not quite ready for formal training but will continue to make progress with time and positive reinforcement.
