About Max
Meet Max!
Max is a charming 5.2-pound senior chihuahua, estimated to be around 5 years old, who is searching for a kind and quiet forever home. He absolutely adores snuggling, finding the coziest spot to perch, and will enthusiastically play fetch until he's happily exhausted! Max is surprisingly spry and "fox-like" for his age, always darting playfully from one adventure to the next. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and older children who are not overly boisterous. He's a good boy who doesn't chew on inappropriate items and is a little reserved with his food, especially when other pets are around.
Due to his delicate size, Max can be a bit sensitive to loud cars, trucks, or any sudden noises. He's a devoted companion at heart, longing to be held, cuddled, and showered with love. This sweet nature means he can experience separation anxiety, and he has a tendency to mark his territory when he's feeling nervous. While he's very content in a crate, his ultimate dream is to sleep snuggled under the covers with you, right at your feet. Max has a pleasant demeanor and is described as "quiet for his breed," though he will vocalize if left alone for too long. He can be a little nippy if he feels anxious or threatened, so he's not the best fit for very young or loud children but would truly blossom with a companion aged 10 or older. He's a fantastic travel buddy and loves to join in on outings! Max is housebroken and has had some leash training, but he's still mastering the art of going for walks. He does require a securely fenced yard and prefers if his human can accompany him outside, as he doesn't like to be left alone outdoors. Max is incredibly loyal and loving, making him the perfect companion for someone who spends a good amount of time at home.
Max has been neutered, is up-to-date on his vaccinations, and is now on heartworm prevention. He is due for a dental cleaning, and we are currently arranging for that procedure.
Ideal Home
Max would thrive in a quiet home with a securely fenced yard where he can be supervised during potty breaks. He would do best with a companion aged 10 or older and would prefer not to be left alone for extended periods.
Ongoing Health
Max is up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm prevention. He is due for a dental cleaning, which is being arranged.
Training & Support
Max can be vocal when left alone and may nip if he feels anxious or threatened. He is housebroken and semi-leash trained but needs continued practice with walks. He benefits from a predictable routine and companionship.
Application Details:
- Applications to adopt Max start by contacting us through Wags.
- Your current dogs and cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined otherwise due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention.
- Reference checks and a home visit are required.
