Meet Raya!
Raya's story is one that we'll never forget. She was found loyal and heartbroken, refusing to leave her sibling who had been struck and killed on the side of a busy highway. Cars flew by, but she stayed right there until a volunteer was able to bring her to safety. That was the day Raya's new life began.
Today, she's a happy, resilient young girl who has left so much of her past behind. Raya is playful, goofy, athletic, and absolutely hilarious. When she gets the zoomies, she doesn't just run—she hops like a little deer, bouncing across the yard in a way that's guaranteed to make you laugh. She loves adventures! Walks? Yes. Car rides? Absolutely. Hiking and exploring? Count her in. The second someone heads toward the front door, she's convinced she's included and would probably walk for miles before she'd willingly turn around and head home.
Once the adventure is over, Raya's favorite job is being as close to you as physically possible. She wants to be in your lap, curled up beside you on the couch, and slowly taking over your bed one inch at a time. She's looking for a family that truly wants their dog to be part of everyday life and is excited to give her exactly that.
Ideal Home
Raya would love a fenced-in yard for her adventures. She thrives when she's part of everyday life and wants to be close to her people. Raya needs a cat-free home, as cats are a little too exciting for her. She'll likely be easiest to place as an only dog, especially for out-of-state adopters whose resident dogs aren't able to meet her beforehand, as she needs slow, positive introductions with new people and other dogs.
Ongoing Health
Raya is spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Raya can experience some separation anxiety, so her foster uses a sturdy crate when needed. If you are gone 8-10 hours most days with little time together, Raya probably isn't the right match. She does need slow, positive introductions with new people and other dogs.
