Flora is a 3-year-old, spayed female Carolina Dog mix weighing 46 pounds. She's a playful and energetic girl who absolutely loves to wrestle and play chase! Flora, affectionately known as Flora, Flory, Lory, or Sweetpea, is a total love bug who enjoys snuggling and will reward you with years of companionship. She's very smart, loves learning new tricks, and is described as submissive and affectionate. While she may be a work in progress, Flora is ready to find her forever home!
Ideal Home
Flora would thrive in a moderately active home where her person is often around. She needs dedicated outdoor playtime and would love someone who enjoys walks, jogs, or playing fetch with her. An ideal home would be without other pets or with a well-balanced dog of similar age, size, and energy level. She may prefer an adult household due to her nervousness around new children and stranger danger.
Ongoing Health
Flora is fully housebroken. She has demonstrated some anxiety in a crate at home, but has no issues when boarded. She is fed separately from other dogs in the home. Flora is terrified of storms and will seek shelter when they occur.
Training & Support
Flora can exhibit leash reactivity, including raised hair, whimpering, and barking, though her foster parents have worked with her on this. She requires slow and guided introductions to new dogs. She can be nervous of new children and barks at new people who move around quickly. Consistent positive reinforcement training will be key to helping her with her leash skills and building confidence around new dogs and stimuli. She needs reminders to take treats gently.
