Chloe (Jazz) is a 5-6 year old Yellow Labrador Retriever who lost her home when her owner became incarcerated. She has been waiting SOOOO long for a forever home and someone who will give her a chance and their patience. Chloe is sweet, playful, and loving. She loves her crate and to snuggle with you either in it or on the floor. However, because of her past, she sometimes feels threatened if she is on the couch or a bed. Two trainers have worked with and assessed her and have confirmed this is easily managed by not allowing Chloe on the furniture, or if she does get up, telling her to "get down" immediately. Chloe responds well to that. She is an active girl who loves to run and play outside and would enjoy an active family who would enjoy hiking and taking her with them on vacation. Chloe loves her doggie friend and would enjoy a friend who is laid back and "go with the flow." She also enjoys older children and is excited to run and play with them in her yard. She likely would enjoy swimming as well. Chloe is housebroken and loves her crate, which is her "safe space." She is not a fan of car riding, though. And she does not do stairs, except for one or two leading to the house. She likely could learn to do them, though. Unfortunately, someone was not kind to Chloe in her earlier year, and she does not like to be surprised if you touch her and she doesn't expect it. While she has never bitten, she does startle and jump up and sometimes give a bark. As soon as she recognizes the person, she settles immediately, but for that reason, she should not go to a home with young children or children who don't understand that rescue dogs have a past. Although she lives with cats, she is separated from them, and her foster mom recommends that she not live in a home with cats. Chloe loves to cuddle and sit by your side, and she is a very loyal girl. She also knows basic commands and should transition nicely into her new home. Chloe is up to date on shots and is heartworm negative and will make a wonderful family member for a lucky adopter.
Ideal Home
Chloe needs a home with older children and a playful, friendly dog or no dog. She definitely cannot live in a home with cats. A fenced-in yard is not required, but her new owners should have a plan to exercise her safely. She needs a home where she is not allowed on the couch or bed, or is immediately told to "get down" if she does get up.
Ongoing Health
Chloe is up to date on shots and is heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Chloe startles and may jump up or bark if surprised by touch, though she has never bitten. She settles immediately once she recognizes the person. For this reason, she should not go to a home with young children or children who don't understand that rescue dogs have a past. She does not like car rides or stairs, though she may be able to learn to do stairs.
