Alder

Alder is a handsome 3-year-old Pyrenean Mountain Dog mix who arrived with us from Texas, where the stray dog population is overwhelming. He's one of the lucky ones who made it out and is now on his journey to find a loving, forever home.

Alder is a shy but friendly gentleman who is still learning how to express his excitement. He clearly craves affection and attention, and we suspect he'll be mastering the Pyr paw in no time!

Ideal Home

Alder would thrive in a home with a calmer, playful dog who can help him build confidence. He is a bit protective of his food, so he'll need to be fed separately from other dogs. He seems to get along with cats and would likely do well in a home with children who are past the "screeching years." An ideal home would have a fenced yard, but he walks well on a leash and is acceptable in a home without one, as long as you're committed to providing him with daily walks for exercise and sniffing opportunities. He is not a dog that can be left to wander in a backyard unsupervised, as he will likely not stay close to home.

Ongoing Health

Alder has no known ongoing health concerns at this time.

Training & Support

Alder is still learning how to interact with other dogs and may need some guidance as he gains confidence. He is also protective of his food and will require separate feeding from other dogs.
