Meet Tofu!
A thoughtful seven-year-old Australian Cattle Dog with a handsome blue mottled coat, Tofu is a loyal companion waiting to bond deeply with his person. At 49 pounds, he's an intelligent boy who thrives in a calm, predictable, and secure environment. Once he trusts you, Tofu loves being close, whether that's on the couch, in the garden, or out on an adventure! He's smart and enjoys having a purpose, having completed formal training and knowing commands like sit, down, place, roll, heel, come, shake, and high five. He responds well to structure and a confident caregiver. Tofu finds joy in chew toys and is an excellent hiking, walking, and running buddy.
Ideal Home
Tofu is looking for a calm, adult-only home with experienced pet parents who understand anxious or reactive dogs and are committed to positive reinforcement. He needs a quiet environment without children, as their unpredictability can increase his anxiety. He has had a few incidents where he lunged toward a child, indicating he would be happier in a quieter setting. Tofu can be cautious around unfamiliar people and prefers slow, structured introductions. He has a history of fear-based nipping when strangers attempt to make direct eye contact or pet him before he's comfortable, but he consistently gives warning signs. When his need for space is honored, Tofu settles in well and can quietly observe visitors. He gets along with most other dogs, can live with a confident cat, rides well in the car, and loves being included in daily life.
