Rio is a 55-pound purebred Portuguese Water Dog who will soon turn 6. After losing the only family he has known, he is experiencing tremendous fear and stress in an unfamiliar environment. Rio is not aggressive—he is frightened, confused, and in need of patience, kindness, and a peaceful home where he can feel safe.

Ideal Home

Rio needs a quiet, calm, experienced home that can provide patience, support, care, and reassurance while he adjusts.

Ongoing Health

No medical conditions or health testing information is provided.

Training & Support

Rio is house-trained. He currently trembles, keeps his tail tucked, hides in his kennel, and may growl or show his teeth when frightened. He accepts gentle petting and responds to kindness, but needs time and understanding to build trust.
