Meet Bear, a spirited three-year-old Great Pyrenees mix with a fluffy white coat, a lovable goofy personality, and devoted guardian instincts. At about 70 pounds, he enjoys belly rubs, toys, bully sticks, car rides, and outdoor fun.

Ideal Home

Bear needs an experienced, calm adopter who can provide:

• An adult-only home without children
• A fenced yard
• Limited visitor traffic
• Slow, controlled introductions to new people
• Positive-reinforcement behavior modification
• A home where he can remain uncrated

Bear is selective with dogs and gets along with some but not others. His compatibility with cats is unknown.

Ongoing Health

Bear is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He receives behavioral medication to help manage anxiety. Chicken may be an allergy trigger, and his fear-based reactivity requires careful management. He has nipped a housekeeper when frightened and has a bite history involving redirection when pressured by strangers.

Training & Support

Bear is house-trained and knows sit, down, stay, leave it, drop it, and touch. He comes when called, has medium energy, and does well alone for short periods when uncrated. He has been evaluated through NC State’s Veterinary Behavior Program. Regular brushing is recommended for his generous shedding.
