Meet Gumbo, a goofy, affectionate Labrador mix with a huge heart. This people-oriented boy loves attention, cuddles, walks, learning tricks, booty rubs, and spending time with his favorite people. He is playful, smart, eager to please, and full of personality.

Gumbo was originally found as a stray in O’Fallon on 5/21/25. After two returns, he is looking for a forever home that understands his energy and can provide the structure, activity, and continued training he needs.

Ideal Home

Gumbo needs an active family with a fenced-in yard and plenty of time for walks, play, enrichment, exercise, and training. He can become overstimulated when things get exciting, so a consistent home using positive reinforcement will help him settle and thrive.

He has lived with other dogs and does well at the dog park, but he can be enthusiastic and come on strong during introductions. He would do best with a confident, tolerant dog, and proper introductions are recommended. Gumbo has struggled around high-energy children, where his excitement can become overstimulating and focused on chasing.

Gumbo does not like water, despite being a Labrador mix.

Training & Support

Gumbo is crate trained and potty trained. He knows tricks, enjoys having something to focus on, and is a fun dog to continue training. He also enjoys brushing and bathing.
