Walter is an energetic, strong, happy, and goofy young dog who loves structure, walks, toys, and being near his people. His whole body wiggles with excitement, and his exuberant personality will keep you laughing and active.

Walter is smart, attentive, and learning to walk nicely on leash. He does best with a front-clip harness and enjoys positive engagement with his people. He has met large and small dogs successfully with slow introductions, though he is very curious about dogs while on leash. He is friendly with children but may be too exuberant for small children because he does not yet realize his size.

Ongoing Health

Walter was found as a stray after apparently running for some time, with torn paw pads, scabs on his face, and badly worn nails. He is healing from happy tail and is described as snorty, with occasional barking but no observed aggression.

Training & Support

• Crate trained and has had no crate accidents in over a month.
• Sleeps well in his crate and stays quiet when he knows his people are nearby.
• A small treat helps him enter his crate willingly.
• Learning leash manners and responds well to sit and stay when nervous around loud motorcycles, electric bikes, and scooters.
• Experiences separation anxiety and may cry, bark, or howl when he cannot see his people, but he is not destructive and does not try to escape his crate.
• Allows handling, including taking food or toys from his mouth, though he enjoys turning everything into a game and does not readily give up toys.
• Can jump over a 5 1/2-foot wall, so secure supervision is important.
