McKinney

McKinney is a handsome Akbash mix puppy who was born on a ranch in Central Texas. He is one of six puppies from mom Victoria, who was surrounded by goats and longhorn cattle. Dad is likely an Akbash or Great Pyrenees, so McKinney is being raised with other working livestock guardian dogs. This means he's already getting a head start on understanding the life of a guardian, but he'll need continued training and supervision to truly master his role. McKinney is adaptable and can be a family pet or a future livestock guardian. He has had exposure to barn cats, but will need proper introductions and supervision to live with house cats. He has NOT been exposed to chickens.

Ideal Home

McKinney can thrive as a beloved family pet or as a dedicated livestock guardian. He will need consistent training and supervision, whether that's crate and potty training for a home environment or guiding him through the natural puppy stages of learning to distinguish playmates from livestock.

Ongoing Health

McKinney has received three rounds of vaccinations, deworming, and monthly preventives. As per Texas law, he will be spayed/neutered within a specific timeframe, and adoptions can be finalized after this procedure.

Training & Support

McKinney will benefit from ongoing training, including crate and potty training if he's to be a house pet. He may also go through stages where he sees livestock as playmates, so continued guidance is important for his development.
