Meet Monte, a 7–8-year-old, 55-pound Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix with a gentle heart and a big love for affection. After spending much of his life surviving, Monte is ready for a soft bed, a consistent routine, and a family who will adore him.
Monte is a chill, easygoing guy who plays well with other dogs. He has bow-legged back legs and sparse teeth from his difficult past, but his veterinarians found that he does not have special needs. His unique walk and nearly toothless grin only add to his charm.
Ideal Home
Monte would thrive in a calm home with a consistent routine. He has met children, including toddlers, and been great with them, but his mouthy play style makes older, respectful children the recommended fit. A family familiar with herding breeds would be ideal. His compatibility with cats is unknown.
Ongoing Health
Monte is currently finishing heartworm treatment and is expected to be ready for transport in late September.
Training & Support
Monte is almost completely house trained and fully crate trained. He loves climbing into his cozy bed at night. He can be mouthy when asking for attention and still shows classic cattle dog herding instincts.
