About Micaela

Micaela didn’t arrive at the shelter with a wagging tail or bright eyes. She arrived in pain—quiet, hurting, and trying her best to be brave. At only about 2 years old, this young husky had already endured more suffering than most dogs face in a lifetime. She was taken to a Texas high-kill shelter, where her severe injuries and silent agony nearly cost her life. A veterinary exam revealed what her gentle spirit had been hiding: a fractured jaw, significant misalignment, and bleeding gums. Every attempt to eat, drink, or simply rest caused her pain. Without urgent medical care, her future looked heartbreakingly grim.

Hoardin’ Huskies stepped in just in time, wrapping her in the compassion she had been denied for far too long. We rushed her to NVC in Nederland, TX, where Dr. Hanson began the care she desperately needed. After a full evaluation, we learned her jaw fractures were very old—left untreated long enough to cause deep tissue infection and several dead teeth. Re-breaking and resetting her jaw wouldn’t help her now. What she needed was relief, real relief, through a full dental cleaning and removal of the damaged teeth. The best news of all? Micaela will be able to live a completely normal, pain-free life. Even now, as she begins her healing journey, her resilience is shining through. She leans into gentle touch. She watches her caregivers with soft, grateful eyes. She is learning—slowly, bravely—that she is finally safe.

Micaela’s story is one of quiet strength, second chances, and the power of compassion. Her healing has begun, and her future is finally filled with hope.
