Some dogs fill your house with chaos. Sadie fills it with peace. This gentle 8-year-old, 60-pound hound mix is calm, easygoing, and happiest near her people or another dog. She enjoys relaxing, following interesting scents around the yard, and quietly keeping you company. Her sweet tap dance and happy hound song at dinner time are sure to make you smile.
Sadie spent much of her life chained outside after being considered a failed hunting dog, but her gentle nature makes her a wonderful companion. She has an independent hound streak, is not highly energetic, and enjoys a couple of leisurely strolls and plenty of downtime. Her tail wags whenever someone enters the room.
Ideal Home
Sadie gets along beautifully with other dogs and is listed as good with children. She has shown little interest in cats at the veterinary office, but she has not lived with one, so a slow introduction is recommended. She would love a soft bed, regular meals, chances to sniff around the yard, and someone to love her.
Ongoing Health
Sadie completed treatment for advanced heartworm disease. Damage from the disease means she will likely need daily heart medication for the rest of her life, although her veterinarian expects a normal life expectancy. The adoption fee includes heartworm testing, and all animals receive a veterinary examination.
Training & Support
Sadie is crate trained, potty trained, and has wonderful house manners. She has learned surprisingly good treat-motivated recall, though she has limited command training. The adoption fee includes DHPP and age-appropriate rabies vaccination, deworming, a wellness veterinary visit, one month of pet insurance, spay/neuter surgery, and a microchip.
