Ernie is a charming 8-year-old, 63lb Pittie/Cattle Dog mix with a heart full of love to give. He was found as a stray but quickly proved to be a well-loved companion. Despite being microchipped, his previous owner opted not to reclaim him, but Ernie holds no grudges. He’s a true gem who loves to be wherever his people are, happy to go with the flow and be part of the family pack.
Ideal Home
Ernie would thrive in a home that can include him in their daily life. He's done wonderfully with all the humans and animals he's met, and enjoys gentle play and inclusion. He's shown he can be a gentle playmate with smaller dogs and seems curious but not aggressive towards cats. While he hasn't been around children, his gentle nature suggests he'd do well with them, as long as they understand he's a bigger dog. Ernie's foster believes he would be a great fit in almost any home, whether with kids, other pets, an older couple, or even a first-time dog owner.
Ongoing Health
Ernie is up-to-date on his vaccinations and has been heartworm tested negative.
Training & Support
Ernie is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He is not a fan of crates and will try to escape, but he does not engage in destructive behavior when left unsupervised. If left in a crate while you are home, he may whine or howl for a few minutes, but he can be calmed with a treat or verbal reassurance.
