Eddie is a gentle, sweet, and sensitive young Labrador mix who is looking for a patient and loving forever home. He's approximately 1.5 years old and weighs about 37 lbs. Eddie can be a bit shy and nervous, especially with physical contact, and may keep his distance initially. However, with time, kindness, and patience, he blossoms at his own pace, offering sweet kisses once he feels safe. He enjoys walks and is a good leash walker. Eddie is playful, obedient, and affectionate. He's also sociable and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women. Eddie was found near his rescuer's home with his sister, who sadly passed away. They were often found sleeping under cars for safety, and Eddie was rescued to give him a chance at a better life away from the streets.
Ideal Home
Eddie would thrive in a calm and understanding environment where he feels secure, as he is sensitive to loud noises like fireworks and thunder. He needs a home that understands shy dogs and is willing to give him the time and space he needs to build trust. A home with a fenced backyard is preferred.
Ongoing Health
Eddie is up-to-date on his vaccinations, including DHPPI, Rabies, and Bordetella. He has been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. He is on monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He has also received a spay/neuter certificate and a health certificate.
Training & Support
Eddie is not house-trained, as is common with many rescued animals. Potential adopters should be aware that rescued pets may have fears and anxieties due to past experiences and need time to adapt. Patience and understanding are crucial for building trust and a strong bond. Owners should be prepared to provide routine and clear boundaries. Experience with dog behavior and training is recommended, or a willingness to hire a trainer, as Eddie is an intelligent dog.

Transporation
Eddie is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip if adopted. Transportation is available as door-to-door delivery. This involves scheduled trips (3-4 per year) with a minimum of 15-20 adoptions per trip. A contracted transport company based in Montana sends a team to Mexico to collect adopted pets. Pets are provided with all necessary legal documents, including a transport contract, USDA health certificate, and health protocol certificates. For US adoptions, pets will be escorted across the border into Texas. For Canadian adoptions, pets will be delivered to the nearest US-Canada border with all required paperwork. Real-time updates will be provided via a private Facebook Messenger group with adopters and the transport team, including photos, videos, feeding and walking schedules, and estimated times of arrival. A one-time transport fee of $400 USD covers the cost from Mexico to your home.
