Maya is a wonderfully loving, intelligent, obedient, and playful girl! This approximately 1-year-old, 30 lb Labrador Creole mix has a heart full of joy and a wagging tail ready to greet you. Maya was rescued in March 2024 and is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, but she's ready for her cross-country trip to the East Coast to find her forever home! She’s energetic and sociable, enjoying playtime, walks, and lots of affection. While a little shy at first with new people, she quickly melts into your arms once she feels comfortable. She's also a cat and dog-friendly gal! Maya’s playful spirit and joyful nature will bring endless smiles to your family. She was rescued as a tiny pup in the middle of a field with her siblings and has blossomed into a loyal companion.

Ideal Home

Maya would thrive in a home with an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. Homeowners with a fenced backyard are preferred. A family with an open conscience about the needs of rescued animals, with experience in dog behavior and training, and a high tolerance and patience for rescued pups is ideal. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may have an adjustment period, and patience and understanding are a must. Maya is NOT currently house-trained.

Ongoing Health

Maya has completed a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed, receiving DHPPI and Rabies vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, and microchipping. She has also tested negative for heartworm and received a 4DX test. She is on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.

Training & Support

Maya is crate and leash trained. However, it’s important to note that she is NOT house-trained. Families should be prepared to work on house-training with patience and consistency, understanding that she may have been traumatized before her rescue and requires additional education and support.

• A phone/email interview will be scheduled.
• A home check (virtual or in-person) will be conducted.
• A virtual "meet n greet" will be arranged.
• A trial adoption period may be offered.

Transportation

Maya is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. She is available for transport to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transport to the adopter's home address is available and has a fee of $400.00, which is to be paid by the adopter prior to departure.
