Baloo

Baloo is an approximately 5-year-old male Bull Terrier mix, weighing about 33 lbs, with a sweet, gentle, and loving soul. He has spent many years waiting in a small shelter, still hopeful that the right family will one day choose him. Baloo is very affectionate and truly enjoys human companionship. When he first meets new people, he may feel a bit nervous and hide, but it doesn’t take long before he comes out looking for pets, attention, and cuddles. He loves visitors, enjoys playing, and is happiest when surrounded by people who show him kindness.

He gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women. Baloo is not aggressive at all—even when other dogs bother him, he rarely reacts defensively. He is respectful at mealtime, waits his turn, eats outside of a crate, and never rushes toward another dog’s food. Baloo is potty trained for the yard and, when indoors, can hold it until he goes back outside. He knows how to use a crate, but does not like being confined—he becomes distressed and cries. He does not yet know how to walk on a leash and gets very nervous during car rides, so he is transported in a carrier. With patience, time, and gentle training, he has great potential to improve in both areas—he is smart and eager to please. Baloo is terrified of fireworks and may chew on toys, sticks, or anything safe to help relieve stress or boredom. He can also be vocal when he’s hungry, but otherwise he is a joyful, playful, and funny companion. Overall, Baloo is a good, balanced, and charming dog—faithful, grateful, obedient, and full of love. He doesn’t ask for much: just attention, affection, and a chance at a better life. Baloo has so much love to give and is waiting for a family who will finally give him the opportunity he deserves.

Ideal Home

A home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. Families should have a genuine intention to rescue a dog and an open conscience about the needs of street animals, understanding their need for protection and education. Experience in dog behavior and training is preferred, or a willingness to hire a trainer. High tolerance and patience for rescued dogs are essential. A home where he doesn't need to be crated would be ideal.

Ongoing Health

Baloo is up-to-date on his vaccinations (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), has been dewormed, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm and 4DX. He is on monthly preventive protection for fleas, ticks, and heartworms. He has a spay/neuter certificate and a health certificate.

Training & Support

Baloo is potty trained for the yard. He needs patient and gentle training to learn to walk on a leash and to become more comfortable with car rides. He may chew on things when stressed or bored due to fireworks, and can be vocal when hungry.

Transporation

Baloo is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip if adopted. A transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. Transport is arranged through scheduled trips with a partnered transport company that provides documentation, real-time updates, and final home delivery.
