A little about them
Mabel is an 8-year-old Golden Retriever mix who has overcome years of neglect and is now discovering the joy of being loved. This affectionate, quiet “Velcro Retriever” enjoys staying close to her people, cuddling, napping, playing, and being included.
Mabel is deaf but very smart and has learned hand signals. She is gentle, loyal, and happy simply being beside her humans. Once she trusts you, she gives an enormous amount of love.
Ideal Home
Mabel needs a stable, patient home where she can settle in at her own pace. She is sensitive to change and would thrive with people who can offer consistency, kindness, and plenty of companionship. She enjoys other dogs and is not considered good with cats or children over age eight; she is reported to be good with children under age eight.
Ongoing Health
Mabel previously suffered from arthritis, an ear infection, and heartworm and began veterinary treatment after entering foster care. She is deaf and will benefit from continued understanding and communication through hand signals.
Training & Support
Mabel is house-trained, does not bark, and does not destroy things. She has learned hand signals and is remarkably tuned in to what is happening around her.
