A little about them
Bo is an affectionate, energetic Great Dane who loves being with his people. He enjoys toys, soft blankets, walks, treats, and curling up on a comfortable couch with his head—or even his whole body—in your lap. With patience, consistency, structure, and positive guidance, Bo has wonderful potential as a loving companion.
Ideal Home
Bo needs an experienced, patient home prepared to continue working on resource guarding and appropriate boundaries. Older children or teenagers are the best fit. A compatible dog friend may be possible with careful introductions and management, especially around food and toys. Bo is not recommended for a home with indoor cats and may chase outdoor cats.
He enjoys canine companionship and loves his medium-sized foster sibling, though his enthusiastic play can sometimes be overwhelming. He does not get along well with his larger female canine housemate. Bo can be fearful of vacuum cleaners, unexpected noises, and unfamiliar people, and may bark, growl, or need extra distance and reassurance when frightened. He has also had one incident involving lunging at an unfamiliar neighbor.
Ongoing Health
Bo's medical conditions and health testing were not specified. He is vaccinated and neutered.
Training & Support
Bo knows how to sit and responds well to gentle encouragement, treats, and positive reinforcement. He walks well on a harness, though he may occasionally need encouragement to keep moving. He is making progress with housetraining but is not completely reliable yet and currently averages about one accident a day, especially during busy evenings. Frequent potty breaks and a consistent routine will help.
Bo is not comfortable being confined in a crate and enters with encouragement. He should be securely restrained in the car. He has moderate-to-high energy and needs multiple walks, mental stimulation, companionship, and continued training. He has done well with cleaning staff while safely crated, and introductions with visitors are ongoing.
