Riggs is a 9-month-old Anatolian Shepherd who came to us from a large hoarding situation. While he was fed and kept clean, the sheer number of dogs meant he missed out on some important socialization. Riggs is a sweet, gentle, and shy boy who prefers a calm approach and time to observe new situations. He enjoys the company of other dogs and cats and would do best in a home with a confident canine sibling who can be a positive role model. Riggs also needs a securely fenced yard for his safety, as he's still a bit wary of loud noises and commotion. He would do best with older children (10+) who are calm and respectful. Riggs loves treats, his doggy friends, gentle humans, and a comfortable indoor temperature. He's not a fan of loud holidays like the Fourth of July and would appreciate a home that understands his need for a peaceful environment. Riggs is looking for a laid-back home with a dog buddy, a fenced yard, and people who can offer him the structure, kindness, and time he needs to truly blossom.
Ideal Home
Riggs would thrive in a calm and stable environment. He needs a securely fenced yard and would benefit greatly from having a confident, friendly dog already in the home. He would do best with children over the age of 10 who are respectful and not overly boisterous.
Ongoing Health
Riggs is a healthy young dog. As with any new environment, his adjustment and any potential health concerns will be best managed by a veterinarian in his new home.
Training & Support
Riggs is still learning about the world and needs patience and understanding. He would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training and clear, consistent routines. Building his confidence with gentle guidance and ample positive experiences will be key to his success.
