Nola is a loving 37-pound, approximately 2-year-old Coonhound mix with a resilient spirit and a heart full of affection. She is wonderful with dogs, children, men, and women. Nola is very affectionate and thrives on human attention, forming strong bonds with her people and displaying a naturally protective personality. She is an energetic young dog who loves to play and needs regular exercise and mental stimulation. Nola's story is heartbreaking; she and her sisters were abandoned as puppies in Houston, surviving under broken-down trucks. Tragically, two of her sisters were killed, and Nola was attacked, resulting in a dislocated right leg. Despite this trauma, she survived and today walks and runs well, not letting her past define her. Nola is searching for a forever home where she will experience safety, patience, and unconditional love.

Ideal Home

An active family that can help channel her energy positively and provide ample exercise and mental stimulation. A house with a fenced backyard is preferred. Families should have an open conscience about the needs of rescued street animals and possess experience in dog behavior and training. High tolerance and patience for rescued puppies are essential.

Ongoing Health

Nola has undergone spaying, DHPPI and Rabies vaccinations, Bordetella vaccination, deworming, and a heartworm test. She received a health certificate and has a vaccination booklet.

Training & Support

Nola is house trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. However, she can destroy toys when bored or overly excited, indicating a need for continued training to manage her energy and chewing habits. As she is a rescued animal with a history of needing protection, adopters should be prepared for her protective instincts and require ongoing education and positive reinforcement.

• A home check, either virtual or in-person, will be conducted.
• A virtual meet and greet will be arranged with you, the pet, and the foster home.
• A trial adoption period will follow if both parties agree it's a good fit, with clear instructions for integration and ongoing communication.

Transportation

Nola is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas, and is ready to travel to the East Coast and the Pacific Northwest if adopted. A transport fee of $400.00 will be paid by the adopter prior to the pet's departure.
