About Nola

Nola is a loving 37-pound, approximately 2-year-old Coonhound mix with a resilient spirit and a heart full of affection. She is wonderful with dogs, children, men, and women. Nola is very affectionate and thrives on human attention, forming strong bonds with her people and displaying a naturally protective personality. She is energetic and loves to play, but can destroy toys when bored or overly excited, suggesting she would do best with an active family that can help channel her energy positively. Her past is heartbreaking; she and her sisters were abandoned in Houston, surviving under broken-down trucks. Nola survived an attack where two of her sisters were killed and she herself was injured, dislocating her right leg. Despite this, she walks and runs well today and doesn't let her past define her. Nola is searching for a forever home where she will finally know safety, patience, and unconditional love.

Ideal Home

  • A home with a fenced backyard.
  • Families that enjoy outdoor activities.
  • Families with an open conscience about the needs of rescued street animals and their need for protection and education.
  • Families with experience in dog behavior and training.
  • A home with high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies.

Ongoing Health

Nola's health has been fully addressed. She has been spayed, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and tested for heartworms. She has a health certificate and vaccination booklet.

Training & Support

Nola is house trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. However, she can destroy toys when bored or overly excited, so she needs an active family to help her channel her energy. The rescue notes that they cannot house-train every foster pet due to the high number of animals.
